The 21st Annual CANLP Convention, held 1-3 Ocober 2010 in Montreal's Midtown Holiday Inn was everything it was advertised to be. The participants were enthusiastic in agreement that the spirit of togetherness and personal transformation could be seen, heard and felt throughout. In spite of my offer of a 100% money-back guarantee at the end of the convention if anyone believed they had not gotten what was promised, there was not a hand raised or a word to be heard on this topic.
While all was not perfect, overall comments made by the participants ranged from superlative to ecstatic. You don't have to take that from me though, the written comments I received are below so you can make up your own mind.
Here is a bit about what we discovered about brilliant success. The first element of brilliant success is "A Big Idea" that people find compelling and something that is bigger than us. Then we follow that up with "Togetherness" and "Energying and Actioning" to create "Successing"! Why all the new words with 'ing'....because success is not a state, it is an ongoing process and therefore we keep on generating energy and action on a daily basis to support the continuing growth of our success. We are always either growing or shrinking no matter what the issue is, so success means continually growing. Status quo in nature is just a myth. There are important other concepts that support successing. They include 'balancing' so successing in one area is not at the expense of another. You will also know that detailed and very informed "outcome setting" is important as is the idea of continually "asking for, and receiving help". Many of us found that today's focus on the individual has detracted from our ability or willingness to ask for help or accept it when offered. I personally resolved my issue on this topic during the convention to my great betterment.
So what is the CANLP big idea to take us to the next level of brilliant successing? CANLP is researching and strongly considering organizing and hosting, in the fall of 2012, the first, and probably only, 'World NLP Summit', with the aim of thanking all of the principle developers of NLP for changing our world and while we are at it, creating a "World NLP Charter" document.
All in all, I consider this a pretty good weekend's work. For those who attended, it was great to reconnect and share this transformative experience with you. For everyone else, hope to see you next year and would welcome any feedback on what would make it easier or more compelling for you to attend.
I am now gathering ideas on how and where to proceed with the association over the next year so now is the best time to input your great ideas and aims. Just send them to admin@canlp.ca. In the meantime, take care, stay well, and have fun! Here's to your brilliant success in the coming year!
2010 CANLP Convention Participant Comments

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at CANLP! It was structured for interaction, sharing and learning; and all were provided! The presentations were stimulating and having time to really get to know people was wonderful. Topics ranged from the motivational and intense style of Rock Thomas to helping participants experience the interrelatedness of NLP and energy work with Jayne Warrilow. Some very creative and meaningful material was shared with the conference attendees, who were a diverse group of NLPers and explorers looking for more to enrich their life journeys. As a presenter I felt welcomed and valued. As a participant I left with new strategies, ideas, new friends, and a sense of abundant possibilities!
Thanks Steve!

Hello Steve,
My experience at CANLP Conference in Montreal this year was transformative. It was wonderful to reconnect with the NLP community. I found the workshops informative and picked up some new skills. You did an amazing job modelling inspirational leadership during a time of emerging transition for CANLP and the conference format.
Do keep in touch,
Lorena Colaruso, MNLP
